The elections reach at a pivotal time for the automaker, which plans to transition to an all-electric automobile lineup by 2035. That started final year with GM saying plans to birth 30 new EVs globally by 2025 below a $27 billion investment in electric and self reliant vehicles for the length of that timeframe.
They devise GM’s board to 13 participants, 12 of whom are self reliant directors. GM CEO and Chairman Mary Barra is the ultimate company representative on the board.

Whitman, 64, is eminent in Silicon Valley and tech circles. She used to be most currently president of rapid-lived streaming platform Quibi. She led HPE from 2015 to 2018, Hewlett-Packard Co. from 2011 to 2015 and eBay from 1998 thru 2008. She’s known for turning around eBay and splitting Hewlett-Packard into two companies.

Whitman and Tatum add to GM’s already-various board below Barra. Of the 13 directors, seven are females, one is Hispanic, one is African American and one other is Asian/African American. The automaker changed into the first major industrial corporation with a truthful gender shatter up on its board, followed by a majority of females directors in 2019.
The board will stand for election at the company’s annual shareholders meeting on June 14.
